“Yet even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love.” – Joel 2:12-13 ESV

Dear Jesus, as I begin this journey to meet you at the cross and then greet you at your resurrection, remind me of those things in my life that get in the way of my relationship with you. Break any and all bonds I have with pride, self-centeredness, self-indulgence, habits, or misaligned priorities. I confess my shortcomings and open my heart to your Spirit. Satisfy my desires with your truth and grace, and draw me nearer every day to you. This is my prayer. In your name I pray, amen.
