If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. - 1 John 1:9 NIV

Heavenly Father, I know my own efforts will never lead to righteousness, as my right standing before you is a gift I received through the sacrifice of Jesus. There are no works that will bring me to salvation, and only you can purify me from all unrighteousness. My only part in this transaction is confession and repentance. So that is what I offer today: confession of where I’ve fallen short, my weaknesses, my inability to live according to my identity in Christ. I stand in agreement that I need forgiveness and ask for your help, for courage to change, move past, and leave behind those thoughts and behaviors that separate me from you. Standing in your grace, I pray, amen.
