God is sheer mercy and grace; not easily angered, he’s rich in love. He doesn’t endlessly nag and scold, nor hold grudges forever. Merciful God, you are patient with me. Since you know my heart, you know my temptations before I give into them, and you yearn for me to turn back to you. There have been times that you have waited patiently for hours, days, or even years, for me to confess. I may suffer consequences for what I do. But you are willing to forgive me, and separate me from my sins as far as the east is from the west—a never-ending expanse full of your grace.
