Long ago you laid the foundation of the earth and made the heavens with your hands. They will perish, but you remain forever; they will wear out like old clothing. You will change them like a garment and discard them. But you are always the same; you will live forever. Psalm 102:25-27 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8
God is consistent. He truly is the same today as he was yesterday. The God of today is the same God of Abraham, Moses, and David. Who he was for them is who he is for us. This consistency intertwines with his other attributes. His love, care, power, and grace are forever poured out to us. Nothing we do changes who he is consistently for us. God is constant in his relationship with his people. He is always present, regardless of where we find ourselves, no matter what time of day or night it is. He is there in our highest of highs and lowest of lows. God is consistent.
While it is easy to point out how inconsistent we can be, let’s focus on the encouragement we find within God’s consistency in our lives. At times, we can get used to the inconsistency of the world and attach it to all other areas of our lives. This is not the case with God. When we have struggles, he is there. When we have the best day of our lives, he is there. When we have doubts, he is there. When we have never been more sure of anything, he is there. When we have big decisions to make, he is there. When we have small decisions to make, he is there. God’s consistency gives us confidence, helping us understand we are not doing this life alone. His consistent presence encourages us, provides direction, and offers peace and comfort. No matter what this world sends our way, we can lean into God, knowing he will be there for us.
This week, be mindful of the consistency of the Lord in your life. Recognize his presence throughout each day. Jesus says in Matthew 28:20, “... and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Hold tight to the constancy of his presence. Regardless of the situation, acknowledge him for being there. As you wake up and as you go to sleep, know he is there. Thank him for his consistent presence in this inconsistent world. God is consistent—he always has been, and he will be. Take comfort and strength in that understanding this week.
PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for being the same yesterday, today, and forever. Thank you for being an anchor of consistency in this inconsistent world. Knowing you are fully present allows us to turn to you in all things of life. Help us, in turn, to be consistent with you. As we aim to live in full relationship with you, make us aware of the things that hinder our consistency with you, and let your consistency be a motivator for our own consistency. We thank you in advance for always being there. Amen!
