I am blessed to tell you my whole life has been founded on pillars of faith. I’ve spent my life in church. My parents are in ministry. One set of grandparents were pastors, the other set active members and volunteers. Now, I am the Admin-Volunteer Coordinator at Crossings Community Center, and I get the privilege of witnessing small miracles every day. There are needs met and prayers answered regularly. It’s incredible. Little did I know when I started here, that through this position, God was working on my own miracle.
In 2015, when our son was two years old, the Lord placed on our hearts the desire to have another child. We prayed for seven years to no avail and with no answers as to why this was happening. During those seven years, let me tell you, I was so grateful for the pillars of faith I mentioned earlier because my faith was rocked. When it feels like God is remaining silent, the silence can be deafening. But, let me encourage you today. His strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). It’s okay to be sad. Despaired. Angry. Heartbroken. Just don’t stay there. Draw close to him, and he will draw close to you (James 4:8). He is close to the brokenhearted (Psalms 34:18) and his timing is perfect (Ecclesiastes 3:11)!
On Friday, October 28, 2022, as I was driving to work, I was praying over the day. For the first time ever, I prayed God would increase my capacity to receive what he had in store for me that day. I was a bit taken back with these words that just seemed to flow out but felt very expectant.
That day, at the same desk I see miracles happening everyday, God literally placed a beautiful baby girl in our laps. We met her that same day, fell instantly in love, brought her home the next day, and the adoption was finalized four months later. God handed us this precious gift, and all we were asked in return was to receive it and steward it well!
I could write a novel of all the perfect details God was in throughout this story. The spare room in our home where I cried out to God on my knees, begging him to fill it with another child, is now a perfectly pink nursery. He is so, SO faithful! I know this is so easy for me to say on the other side of a miracle. Believe me when I say I doubted. I was fearful. I held onto what the doctors told me instead of what our Great Physician and our Healer was telling me. So, please let me encourage you today. If your heart is hurting and broken … if you have no words or tears left and are holding on to your miracle by a thread, whether it’s been seven days or seven years … do not stop praying. Thank him in advance. Put your faith in Jesus, and he will be faithful in return. Miracles still happen. He is faithful. Keep your hopes up!
PRAYER
Father, thank you for your unwavering faithfulness. You are so good! Thank you for giving us the desires of our hearts. Thank you that when it seems all hope is lost, God, we can put our hope in you. I pray for a renewed, supernatural strength over anyone reading this who is in a season of waiting. Fill them with your perfect peace and comfort. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
