O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever? How long will you look the other way? How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? DEVOTION

“You’re Still Moving” was birthed from a place of being in the wilderness and difficulty in life. The Lord kept giving the phrase, “I’m still moving,” and we didn’t know how he was going to use that phrase to not only encourage our team, but also encourage our church. We need to be constantly reminded that in the midst of our struggles and pain, our God is still moving in all situations. He promises to never leave or forsake us: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6).

There will always be seasons of confusion, difficulty, and sorrow. A common phrase that comes to mind is, “You’re either on your way out of a storm, in the middle of a storm, or walking into a storm.” John 16:33 tells us, “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth, you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” This verse brings such comfort and hope. 

In the Old Testament, God shut the mouths of lions, parted the sea, sent rain, and slayed giants. We believe he is still in control and moving in the same way. We believe he takes our mistakes, our sin, and our shame and moves through it all to bring glory to his name. “And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love him, and are called according to His purposes” (Romans 8:28).

The second half of Psalm 13 is what brings the hope of God’s provision in our sorrow. Even in the midst of the storm, David reminds us, “But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the Lord because he is good to me.” May this song bring comfort in the middle of your season. May it encourage you to trust in his unfailing love, and that he is still moving even when we cannot see it.
